Lafforgue's Field Propulsion Thruster v3-XPS specifications
  • Armatures : Extruded Polystyren XPS fully covered with an aluminium sheet.

  • Dielectric :
    - Extruded Polystyren ( XPS ), dielectric constant : er=2.53

  • Size : 300 x 300 mm

  • Total weight : 202 g

  • Working voltage : 28 KV DC ( with few µA )

TESTS RESULTS :

With the dielectric on the bottom of the device, when the HV is switched on, the LFPT goes downwards. ( photo above )

With the dielectric on the top of the device, when the HV is switched on, the LFPT goes upwards. ( photo above )

Mars 26, 2003 - LFPT v3-XPS test with a fully symmetrical setup

24 mm of the upper armature part of the LFPT has been removed and the gap between the two armatures is filled with the dielectric
We have now a fully symmetrical LFPT, the resulting electrostatic pressure is symmetrical.

When the High Voltage is ON,
no measurable thrust has been observed with this symmetrical LFPT.

Comments : These different tests above conducted on the LFPT v3-XPS shows that an asymmetrical electrostatic pressure is able to produce a thrust Vs the surrounding medium.
